Previously, we have known three kinds of commonly used cutting tools for machine tools, including turning tools, hole processing tools and milling tools. They have their own characteristics and uses.Next, several other commonly used NC tools will be introduced.
1. broach
Broach is a multi tooth tool with high machining accuracy and cutting efficiency. It is widely used in mass production and can process various internal and external surfaces. Broach can be divided into internal broach and external broach according to the different surface of the workpiece. When machining with broach, in addition to selecting the front and back corners of the cutter teeth according to the workpiece material and determining the broach size according to the size of the workpiece processing surface (such as the diameter of circular hole), two parameters need to be determined:
1) Tooth lift angle af [that is, the difference between the radius or height of the front and rear cutter teeth (or tooth groups)]
2) Tooth pitch p [i.e. axial distance between two adjacent cutter teeth]
2. thread cutter
Thread can be machined by cutting method and rolling method.
3. gear cutter
The gear cutter is used to process the gear tooth profile. According to the working principle of cutters, gears are divided into forming gear cutters and generating gear cutters. The commonly used forming gear cutters include disk gear milling cutters and finger gear cutters. The commonly used generating gear cutters include gear shaping cutters, gear hobs and shaving cutters. When selecting gear hobs and gear shapers, the following points shall be noted:
1) The basic parameters of the tool (module, tooth profile angle, addendum height coefficient, etc.) shall be the same as the machined gear.
2) The accuracy grade of the tool shall be equivalent to the accuracy grade required for the gear to be machined.
3) The rotation direction of the tool shall be the same as that of the gear to be machined. When hobbing spur gears, the left-hand gear cutter is generally used.
4. automatic line and NC machine tool
Generally speaking, the cutting part of this kind of tools is not much different from that of general tools, but in order to adapt to the characteristics of CNC machine tools and automatic line machining, higher requirements are put forward for them.
